If a liver test is necessary, there are systemic symptoms such as loss of appetite, weight loss, fever, nausea, and vomiting, but in many cases, there are no symptoms. 

Liver levels refer to blood test figures that determine whether liver function is deteriorating, and major liver function tests include AST, ALT, GGT, ALP, bilirubin, albumin, and protein PT. These tests are mainly for evaluating inflammatory diseases caused by viruses and liver damage caused by drugs or drinking.

 

It should be noted that even if the liver level is normal, there may be liver disease because AST and ALT do not tell you how healthy the liver is, but are values for inflammation. In other words, if the liver is inflamed, and it is a simple fatty liver without inflammation, or liver cirrhosis after the stage of inflammation, AST and ALT levels can be normal

 
1. AST - Normal value: 0 to 40 IU/L

AST is an enzyme that exists in the heart, brain, and muscles other than liver cells, and if these cells are damaged, the concentration increases. In acute hepatitis, alcohol-induced liver damage is higher than ALT.

 


2. ALT - Normal value: 0 to 40 IU/L

Also known as GPT, it refers to enzymes in the normal liver and increases when liver cells are damaged.

As expected, acute hepatitis results in high levels are high.

3. ALP - Normal value: 20 to 130 IU/L

It is an enzyme present in the gallbladder duct in liver cells, and it is present in bones other than the liver, so the level can also increase in bone diseases. In the case of normal liver disease, not only ALP but also Gamma GT will increase. If the ALP is high, liver damage, blockage of bile ducts, and bone disease can be suspected.

 

 

4. Albumin - Normal value: 3.3~5.3g/dL

Albumin is a protein that is made in the liver and is responsible for protecting against infection. Lower albumin can mean liver damage or other diseases.

5. Bilirubin - Normal level: 0.2 mg/dL or less

Bilirubin is a substance produced by the decomposition of red blood cells, which passes through the liver and is excreted as feces, but if there is a problem with the liver, the process becomes problematic.

Eventually, higher levels of bilirubin can lead to other anemia, including liver damage.

6. GGT (Gamma-GT)-Normal number: male = 60U/L or less, female = 40U/L or less

If GGT is high, it will go up if you drink alcohol often, which may be suspected of liver or bile duct damage, and if you check this level, the dosage of alcohol is predictable.

 

Even if the liver level is normal, the liver may not be good.

Therefore, if you drink a lot or have a family history of liver, even if your liver level is normal, the disease can suddenly occur

It is recommended that you receive liver (abdominal) ultrasound regularly.

As early detection is difficult if there is an abnormality in the liver, it is also necessary to conduct a thorough examination of the liver over a certain period.
